It has been a while since I have posted anything here. It has been an interesting ride of changing jobs over the last year or so. I worked for Symantec about this time last year, on their help-desk, then for iTok.net with remote computer support, and now working for Teleperformance USA supporting PC and Mac. On another note, my spouse is starting a new temp job today. It is call center work like I am doing, except she will be making out bound calls to businesses, instead of inbound calls from private individuals needing support on their computer. My prayers and thoughts go with her.
Dreaming of a tight Christmas

This is the title of a spoof Christmas song...dreaming of a tight Christmas...if you are loading my blog in the month of December you may hear it played in the play list below. This is the 2nd Christmas season in a row that I have been unemployed. It is a humbling and stress induced experience. I realize there are blessings involved, such as being able to spend more time with my wife and children, but sometimes it is quite frustrating, especially financially, to wonder if we will squeak by another month with mortgage and other bills being successfully paid. Where are all the IT jobs here in Utah County. I know there has to be at least one or two companies that could use my expertise. None the less. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Hoping and praying that not only myself, but others who may be experiencing financial hardship may find relief in one form or another. God bless everyone.
Contract Ended

After what I considered a long battle to retain my contact with Pinnacle Technical Resources/EDS, they ended it again without much of 7 business hours. on Friday the 2nd of Oct. This date is pretty significant to me because it is the same time of year I was laid off at Tahitian Noni International, a year ago. I am trying to assess the lessons I am supposed to learn from these experiences and why I get to keep having them.

The other evening, Friday, I had the opportunity to take my sweetheart to the temple. We were running later than usual, and we got there just barely in time for the last session. In fact those in the dressing room informed me that I may not be able to make it in, but they rushed me in anyway. The pleasing thing was, that I got the rare opportunity to sit next to my wife during the session, which is a rare treat. The officiators made sure that we we were married. "You're husband and wife, right-married?" "Yes, we are," I said. Then we were assured since that was the case, we would be fine to sit next to each other at the end of the row on the back row where the workers usually sit, and they brought in a couple of chairs for the temple workers. It was a good session. We have a lot going on in our lives right now. It is hard to find the peace that we need. We need to go back to the temple more often.

My youngest son is turning 9 on this Monday. It seems only last week he was running around in diapers and not to long before that he was in the hospital with his mother just being born. He is such a character and full of life. He wants so much for his birthday and doesn't understand the hardships of this life and the recession this country or our family is in.

This morning when I was headed to go to work, I started my car. Now, you have to know that my car is a 1993, Ford Escort. This is a car that Jay Leno has made fun of and I must agree with some of his joking around. To say the least, the car is nickel and diming me, needs more repairs and is quite temper mental, and has more than just a personality of its own. It used to be that when it was severely cold after starting, it would engage the automatic locks. Well, now it seems to be doing that almost all the time. I didn't notice this in time, as I closed the door as I notice the shed door was open, and went to close the shed door, and then was locked out of my car with it running. Well, I had the back windows down a bit, but not quite far enough for me to reach in and unlock, but enough for a young child who could, so I thought of my neighbors kids who may not have gone to school yet, so I knocked. Then I remembered, they don't hear me when I knock or ring the door bell. So, I th...

my kids and I stay up until about 1 am playing the game of Life - Twists & turns. We set the amount of turns to 50 and started playing about 9 Pm. By the time we had watche the New Year come in on Channel 5, the boys were pretty much ready to wrap it up, by 1 am they were really tired. I think we only got to about a 37 turn/year game... I won with over 500 thousand life points. getting a luxury car and any kind of house as soon as possible in the game really helps I think. I started a contract job on the 29th of December. I am contracted to a company in Texas called Pinnacle to work for EDS (an HP company) to do local hardware/software Helpdesk support for Symantec in South Lindon. It pays about $4/hour less than what I was getting at TNI, but I guess it is a job and gets me out of the house and earning money and some insurance. I wish every one a glorious New Year.

Those of you who are in warmer climates and are wishing for a white Christmas will just have to grin and bare it. We have it here! Idaho and Utah have the White Christmas. Come here if you can. Of course, you will have to take the driving conditions along with it, tee hee. Yes, it is beautiful to look at and nice to know that we will have the moisture in the mountains come spring thaw. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Last night we went to the Daily Herald news paper and along with several other students from her school, my daughter, Grace, read a news story that was given to her randomly. It so happened that it was about the new Cinemark theater in Orem that we went to for the BSA movie night. Thus she had been there and was familiar with the building the story was talking about. If you would like to see the results of the news story at News Kids for Tuesday, November 11. Her Story is Cinemark.

it has been a crazy day. had to get the care repaired so it can hopefully pass safety and emissions now - about $400 later. Yeah, happy b-day to me. Tonight was a local BSA fund raiser night; a new Cinemark theater is doing its grand opening tomorrow night, and they decided to do a fund raiser for the BSA, all the concessions went to the BSA. It was crowded. We saw the movie Egor. It was different. Not something I would have picked to see-the kids picked it. It was PG. Other choices were PG-13 and we had not previewed them and with the crowd as it was it may have been tough to get into much else either. If my scanner was not dead, I would scan the program and show all the movies they showed, but I cannot, oh well. Still no job yet, but I do have a phone interview tomorrow and an in person interview on Monday, two different companies. I hope and pray for something soon because things are really getting tight.

It is amazing who you can meet when just out and about... My wife and I were out shopping for my B-day present, and while at the Distribution Center we bumped into Aunt Beth and her daughter Connie. I went up and said, "Hey, I think we are related. What was your name again?" and aunt Beth asked what our names were, and we answered and Connie and Aunt Beth asked where we lived and we found that we all live withing a few blocks of each other, and see each other not very often. It is amazing who we can run into when out and about.

first if getting laid off isn't bad enough, then my laptop hard drive crashed, and I lost at least a years worth of my yahoo accounts email. Still no sure job offers. I interviewed with SOS temp yesterday and a job - mozy.com - through SOS technical, that would be on a contractual basis. I was told that I should find out about that one by late afternoon on Friday.

I went on some errands and during that time I stopped at the post office and while there asked if they were hiring, mentioned that I had been laid off. The woman mentioned that she had read about TNI laying off 85 people in the news paper. So for those who have not seen that article - here it is- Heraldextra article I think that it is rather enlightening, myself, for a public release. and then the SLC Tribune had some similar ones: SLC_Trib1
getting laid off is not fun to do

just in case any one wanted to know, getting laid off is not fun to do. Wednesday, the 1st of October, the first phone call I received on my cell phone was from my manager. He asked me to come back to the legal counsel's office. Just before that, my co-worker was bring me up to spead on what had been rumored or discussed the day before about lay-offs. She figured that if anyone in our helpdesk would get let go, she probably would since was low person on the totem pole. Well, I guess I should have been listening to myself, because I just got through saying something like it doesn't matter, it could be any of us. I walked back to the legal counsels office, and there was my manager standing behind the head legal counsels desk with a pink/burgundy folder with my name on it. It was explained to me that contained in the folder was a check for my pay up till 5 pm that day and the rest of my vacation days. I would be given time to back up my data if I wished, since I knew how to do tha...

Nathaniel and I went to SEUSSICAL: THE MUSICAL Nathaniel needed to go to a musical thing for a requirement for his choir class. It was an enjoyable show; a lot of energy up on the stage for those actors and actresses to dance around and sing, especially for the two main parts, the Cat in the hat and JoJo.
