Dreaming of a tight Christmas

This is the title of a spoof Christmas song...dreaming of a tight Christmas...if you are loading my blog in the month of December you may hear it played in the play list below. This is the 2nd Christmas season in a row that I have been unemployed. It is a humbling and stress induced experience. I realize there are blessings involved, such as being able to spend more time with my wife and children, but sometimes it is quite frustrating, especially financially, to wonder if we will squeak by another month with mortgage and other bills being successfully paid. Where are all the IT jobs here in Utah County. I know there has to be at least one or two companies that could use my expertise. None the less. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Hoping and praying that not only myself, but others who may be experiencing financial hardship may find relief in one form or another. God bless everyone.

Contract Ended

After what I considered a long battle to retain my contact with Pinnacle Technical Resources/EDS, they ended it again without much of 7 business hours. on Friday the 2nd of Oct. This date is pretty significant to me because it is the same time of year I was laid off at Tahitian Noni International, a year ago. I am trying to assess the lessons I am supposed to learn from these experiences and why I get to keep having them.

I took a What Michael Jackson Song are You? quiz

Not too often experienced thing

The other evening, Friday, I had the opportunity to take my sweetheart to the temple. We were running later than usual, and we got there just barely in time for the last session. In fact those in the dressing room informed me that I may not be able to make it in, but they rushed me in anyway. The pleasing thing was, that I got the rare opportunity to sit next to my wife during the session, which is a rare treat. The officiators made sure that we we were married. "You're husband and wife, right-married?" "Yes, we are," I said. Then we were assured since that was the case, we would be fine to sit next to each other at the end of the row on the back row where the workers usually sit, and they brought in a couple of chairs for the temple workers. It was a good session. We have a lot going on in our lives right now. It is hard to find the peace that we need. We need to go back to the temple more often.

Children grow up too fast

My youngest son is turning 9 on this Monday. It seems only last week he was running around in diapers and not to long before that he was in the hospital with his mother just being born. He is such a character and full of life. He wants so much for his birthday and doesn't understand the hardships of this life and the recession this country or our family is in.

An extra sets of keys, a must!

This morning when I was headed to go to work, I started my car. Now, you have to know that my car is a 1993, Ford Escort. This is a car that Jay Leno has made fun of and I must agree with some of his joking around. To say the least, the car is nickel and diming me, needs more repairs and is quite temper mental, and has more than just a personality of its own. It used to be that when it was severely cold after starting, it would engage the automatic locks. Well, now it seems to be doing that almost all the time. I didn't notice this in time, as I closed the door as I notice the shed door was open, and went to close the shed door, and then was locked out of my car with it running. Well, I had the back windows down a bit, but not quite far enough for me to reach in and unlock, but enough for a young child who could, so I thought of my neighbors kids who may not have gone to school yet, so I knocked. Then I remembered, they don't hear me when I knock or ring the door bell. So, I th

New Year has begun

my kids and I stay up until about 1 am playing the game of Life - Twists & turns. We set the amount of turns to 50 and started playing about 9 Pm. By the time we had watche the New Year come in on Channel 5, the boys were pretty much ready to wrap it up, by 1 am they were really tired. I think we only got to about a 37 turn/year game... I won with over 500 thousand life points. getting a luxury car and any kind of house as soon as possible in the game really helps I think. I started a contract job on the 29th of December. I am contracted to a company in Texas called Pinnacle to work for EDS (an HP company) to do local hardware/software Helpdesk support for Symantec in South Lindon. It pays about $4/hour less than what I was getting at TNI, but I guess it is a job and gets me out of the house and earning money and some insurance. I wish every one a glorious New Year.
